Arcata Marsh Wildlife Safari

Discover one of Humboldt County’s premier birding destinations on a guided walk through the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary. Home to more than 300 bird species, it’s common to see 30–40 different species in just two hours, along with river otters, salmon, and other marsh wildlife.

Led by a local naturalist, this leisurely loop walk offers time for birdwatching, photography, and learning about the Marsh’s unique history. A local environmental engineer will share how this restored wetland became both a thriving habitat and an innovative community project.

During the tour, we’ll create a real-time eBird checklist—your sightings will contribute to global conservation efforts, and you’ll receive an emailed species list after the walk.
