Founder & Host

Pearse W. Narum is a local outdoor adventure professional, interpretive naturalist, and experience consultant with over a decade of experience in expedition guiding, interpretive programming, experience design, and operations management.

Originally from Humboldt County, California, Pearse grew up among towering redwoods, rugged coastline, and wild rivers, landscapes that inspired his lifelong passion for nature and adventure. His career has included managing lodges and eco-tour companies in the redwoods, leading multi-day expeditions in southern Utah, and guiding wildlife viewing tours in Hawaiʻi. Across every role, Pearse has been dedicated to connecting people with the natural world in authentic and meaningful ways.

He has designed and directed award-winning programs for camps, resorts, and outdoor education organizations, and is recognized for blending engaging guest experiences with educational storytelling.

Through Redwood Coast Experiences, Pearse shares his deep knowledge of local ecosystems while facilitating unforgettable outdoor adventures that inspire connection, discovery, and stewardship of the natural world.

When he’s not hosting or advising clients, you’ll find Pearse birdwatching, fly fishing, or exploring the trails with his family.

Founder & Chef

Sophie Narum is a chef, floral designer, and creative entrepreneur whose work is rooted in a deep love of nature, artistry, and community. With a Le Grand Diplôme in Cuisine and Pâtisserie from Le Cordon Bleu in Wellington, New Zealand. Sophie blends classical training with a passion for local, organic, and sustainable practices.

Originally from Humboldt County, Sophie has built a diverse career that spans fine dining, custom cake design, floral artistry, and event catering. She has worked as a lead chef at Ke Nui Kitchen in Waimea Valley, Hawaiʻi, where she catered for high-profile clients, ranging from professional surfers and musicians to political leaders. Her career also includes owning and operating Peppernut Cakes, a high-end custom cakery in Northern California, and contributing her artistry to floral design and sustainable farming projects.

Sophie is known for her ability to create experiences that delight the senses—whether through food, flowers, or storytelling. With expertise in dietary-conscious menu design, event catering, and farm-to-table practices, she brings creativity and care to every guest she serves.

At Redwood Coast Experiences, Sophie weaves her culinary and design background into unforgettable journeys that highlight the beauty, abundance, and spirit of the coast.

When she’s not in the kitchen or designing bouquets, Sophie enjoys painting, gardening and spending time outdoors with her family and friends.
